Houston - The 2010 American Brahman Breeders Association International Sale drew record crowds and record prices this year, boasting an average sale price of $11,525. Buyers were on hand from United States, Mexico, Panama, and Thailand for this premier annual sale, held on March 3, 2010 at the Houston Livestock Show.
The high selling lot of the sale, JDH Ms. Lawford Manso 513/7 commanded a bid of $31,500 and was purchased by Panama breeder Carlos Lee. This female is a two-year old sired by +JDH Sir Lawford Manso 616/6 and was consigned by J.D. Hudgins, Inc., Hudgins Division.
The high selling flush of the sale was Lady H Lisa Manso 947/7, consigned by STA Ranch. This flush sold for $7,000 and was purchased by Patrick Lim of Thailand. The following day, this female was selected as the 2010 International Champion Gray Female.
The results of this sale indicate a strong interest in Brahman cattle in the United States and internationally, says Chris Shivers, executive vice president.
Cattleman worldwide see a need for the traits that Brahman cattle bring to the beef cattle industry, says Shivers. We have seen a big interest in cattleman who recognize the value these genetics in their breeding programs.

The last day of the Fort Worth Stock Show, February 7th marked the setting for the 23rd Annual Fort Worth Stock Show Invitational Commercial Female Show and Sale. This years sale had a capacity crowd that was on hand to watch as $11,000 in prize money was awarded to twelve champions and up to 6 places in each division. Winning the overall grand champion pen was consigned by Hillwood Land & Cattle Co., Fort Worth, Texas. They had the champion Black Brahman along with champion all Brahmans, then went on to be grand champion overall. They won $1750 in prize money. They were 11 Brangus heifers with 11 thirty day old calves at side and brought $3700 each and went to repeat customer Jerry Pettijon, Rocking J P Ranch, Dublin, Texas.
Reserve grand champion English Crosses were consigned from Jud Little Ranches, Ardmore, OK. They were 12 Angus/Hereford cross females with big September calves at side by Angus bulls and exposed back to Angus bulls. They brought $2500 each and also went to Rocking J P Ranch, Dublin, Texas.
Champion all other Brahmans consigned by JM Ranch, Gause, Texas. They were Brangus Baldie heifers with 40 day old calves at side by Brangus bulls. They brought $2700 and went to Rockin J P Ranch.
Champion Exotic cross consigned by Deep Rock Cattle Co., Blum, TX. They were a fancy set of Simmental/Red Angus cross heifers that were 8 months plus bred and had one calf at side. They brought $1800 and went to Mitch Hall, Anson, TX.
Reserve champion Exotic crosses from Griswold Cattle Co., Stillwater, OK. They were 11 Maine-Angus cross heifers that had 5 calves at side. They brought $2550 and went to Kent McLemore, Ninnekah, OK.
Reserve champion Brahman F-1s from Diamond H Cattle Co., Brenham, TX. They were 10 F-1 Brafords with 10 sixty day old calves at side by Angus bulls. They went to Rodney Beverly, Lindsay, OK for $1800 each.
Reserve champion all black Brahmans and reserve champion overall Brahmans consigned by Cobb Bros./High Oaks Ranch, Clifton, TX. They were 10 purebred Brangus heifers that 8 months plus bred to Angus bulls. They brought $2000 each and went to Bob Simpsons 101 Ranch, Strawn, TX.
Reserve champion English Cross division was consigned by Burnett Ranch LLC, 6666 Ranch, Guthrie, TX. They were 9 black Baldie Angus heifers bred to Express Ranches low birth weight bulls with two calves at side. They went to Chapman Family Ranch, Clarksville, TX for $1450 each .
Other top selling lots included, Bruce West Cattle Co., 11 Maine-Angus cross heifers heavy bred with 3 calves at side. They brought $2050 and went to Kent McLemore, Ninnekah, OK.
McGowans Black Genetics, Ringling, OK, had 10 Maine-Angus cross heifers that had 10 calves at side. They brought $2050 and went to Floresville, TX.
Selling for $2000 was a set of Tigerstripe heifers from Pony Springs Ranch, Bluffdale, TX. There were 12 bred 8 months plus to Angus bulls. They went to Bruce Jones, Maysville, OK.
Close behind at $1975 was a consignment by Griswold Cattle Co., Stillwater, OK. There was 11 black Maine crosses 7-8 months bred to Maine-Cross bulls. They went to B.R. Elliott, Franklin, TX.
Also selling for $1950 was a Simmental/Angus cross set of heifers that had Charolais sired calves at side that were November/December calves. They went to Mitch Hall, Anson, TX.

The Texas Limousin Association hosted its annual Cowtown Classic Limousin sale January 29 in Ft. Worth, TX. The event is held in conjunction with the open Limousin show of the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show. Consignors from across Texas and beyond had a quality offering on display in the Bass-Richardson building on the Stock Show grounds. This is first year this venue was available and consignors and buyers alike were well pleased with this state of the art sale facility.

High selling females this year were consigned by Summerour Ranch of Dalhart, Texas. These 11 spring 2008 females are bred to Hereford bulls due February and March were purchased by Diamond S Ranch of Weatherford, Texas for $4,300 per head.
Diamond S Ranch also seized the opportunity to buy the Champion pen of heifers that was consigned by Scharbauer Ranch LLC of Amarillo, Texas. These 10 spring 2008 females were bred to low birth weight Angus bulls due to calve May to June and brought $2,500 per head.
MK Ranch of Era, Texas consigned the Reserve Champion pen of Hereford females that were born in May of 2008. The 12 females were bred to low birth weight Angus bulls July through August of 2009 and sold to Green Acres Ranch of Whitesboro for $1,300 per head.
Brainard Cattle Co. of Canadian, Texas consigned high selling open Hereford pen of February 2009 heifers. Diamonds S Ranch won the high bid on these 10 females at $900 per head.
Champion English baldies were consigned by C&M Herefords of Nara Visa, New Mexico. The 10 head of open January and February 2009 black baldies sold for $1,050 per head to Jim Martin of Aledo, Texas.
D&D Farms of Grandview, Texas purchased the high selling and Reserve Champion Pen of English Baldies for $1,550 per head. The 12 head of fall 2007 black baldy pairs sold with Angus sired calves at side and were pasture exposed to a Hereford bull from 11/1/09 to 1/27/10.

RSS Channing Gold 0901 ET, a 1/8/09 son of BR DM Channing ET and out of a Pure Gold sired female sold one-half-interest and full possession sold for $10,000 to Diamond S Ranch of Weatherford, Texas.
C&M Herefords of Nara Visa, New Mexico consigned lot 29, C&M T9 Advance 9007. The 2/2/09 son of GO 3196 Advance T9 who is out of a Pure Gold sired female sold to Summerour Ranch of Dalhart, Texas for $9,000.
Diamond S Ranch also purchased lot 37 consigned by W4 Ranch of Morgan, Texas. W4 613 Domino U036, a 6/7/08 son of H Banker 613 ET who is out of a C 212 Domino 4011 sired female sold for $7,500.
Andrew Orsak of Wallice, Texas won the bid on the high selling female consigned by C&M Herefords, lot 11. C&M New Mexico Lady 9041 ET, a 3/11/09 female sired by KJ BJ Bounty Hunter 741P who is out of a Pure Gold sired female sold for $15,000.
Lot 20 MCS Star PF 80P Rachel 801U, a 1/11/08 female sired by LaGrand Reload who is out of a Online sired cow was consigned by MCS Cattle Co. Elgin, Oklahoma, Star Lake Cattle Ranch, Skiatook, Oklahoma and Pollard Farms of Waukomis, Oklahoma. She sold safe in calf to John Wayne due 5/10/10 to McInnis Cattle Co of May, Texas for $8,000.
Lot 13X, a consignment of the Hoffman W4 LLC partnership was the right to flush any of their co-owned females. Cutting Edge Cattle Co, of Grandview, Texas purchased the flush for $13,250.

11/20/08 son of Salt Creek Bob 7003 and out of a Hoff Diversified sired female sold for $11,000 to KCS Ranch of Novinger, MO.
2 Bar Angus of Hereford, Texas consigned lots 62 and 63. Lot 62, 2 Bar Predestined 8056 born 1/5/08, and lot 63, 2 Bar Predestined 8207 born 2-28-08. These full brothers are sired by GAR Predestined and of a SS Objective sired female were purchased for $5,000 by Ron Brown of McLean, Texas.
Another consignment of 2 Bar Angus was lot 65. 2 Bar Objective 8024, a 12/9/07 son of SS Objective and out of a GAR Yield Grade sired female went to Tom Estes of Adrian, Texas for $5,000.
Bobby Mansfield of Amarillo, Texas also purchased a consignment from 2 Bar Angus, lot 76. 2 Bar Objective 8105 a 1/13/08 son of SS Objective and out of a GAR Retail Product sired female sold for $5,000.
Lot 83, Roden RL Yield Grade 8471, a 2/4/08 son of GAR Yield Grade who is out of a New Design 036 sired female consigned by Riclin Ranch of Grandview, Texas was purchased by Bob Zachry of Henrietta, Texas for $4250.
