Spring pairs were of incredible quality and experienced active bidding. H20 Ranch, Washington, TX sold SDH SURREAL, a 2/19/06 daughter of “LAREDO” with her
2/18/08 herd sire prospect by RANSUM R8. The pair sold to Woodring Ranch, Flint, TX at $2,900.
Another top H20 “LAREDO” daughter with a herd sire prospect by RANSUM R8 was selected by Triple R Farms, Atlanta, TX at $2,650.

MJ Livestock, Encampment, WY selected the Broken Oak offering at $3,000. The 5/22/06 daughter of GLB POLLED VISION ET sold safe to AAA WOODRING’S Blk Joker ET. H20 Ranch sold a 10/17/06 “LAREDO” daughter exposed to RANSUM R8 to J&L Braunvieh, Okema, OK at $2,850.
The sale was afforded an exceptional group of open heifers. H20 Ranch, Washington, TX took the top pick at $3,100 of a choice of one of two AAA WOODRING’S RANGER 11R daughters and selected a 10/10/07 SILVERWOOD DRAGON 4Y daughter at $2,700 all from Diamond H Ranch, Amarillo, TX.

Lot 31, KCL 2013 Bonissa 65K 75R, a 4/15/05 daughter of HB STAR Battle Ground 2013 with a 4/24/08 heifer calf by GHC STAR Moose 59M consigned by Larson’s Polled Herefords of DeSoto, Texas sold half interest to Kurt Stockdale of Pennsylvania, and Kirby Day of Waxahachie, Texas for $15,000.
Lindy and Dorthy Wright from Alvarado, Texas won the high bid on lot 25 for $9,000. STAR 29F Bethany 205R, a 2/13/05 daughter of CS Boomer 29F with a 2/14/08 heifer calf by Lagrand Reload 80P was consigned by Megan L. Holloway Lake Kiowa, Texas.

Lot 3, -S Adv Dom 7008G S135 ET, a 9/21/06 paternal brother to lot 10 sold three quarters interest to Lone Star Hereford Ranch, Henrietta, Texas for $2,100.
Topping the females was Lot 16,
-S Miss Adv Dom 2111M T173 ET, a 9/12/07 daughter of HH Advance 5061R ET. Diamond M Ranch, Van Alstyne, Texas purchased half interest in lot 16 for $13,500.

Lot 1 was the right to flush any cow in the Shafer Ranch herd to the bull of the buyer’s choice. DeShazer Cattle Company, Hearne, Texas took advantage of this opportunity and had the high bid of $9,500.

DeShazer Cattle Company’s The Event VII sale was a huge success. As Hank Deshazer commented in his opening speech it was one the nicest days that they have had the sale on, and the largest crowd that has ever gathered for this event.
The sale kicked off the night before with “The Royal Flush” which sold cattleman the right to flush some of the most powerful Hereford Donors that DeShazer Cattle Company has to offer. Mead Cattle, Midville, Georgia purchased the right to flush Star Ricki 162M, a
3/23/02 daughter of H 8E Embracer 8006, out of Star Rockin Erica 38F for $17,000.
T-Bone Ranch, Antonio, Colorado purchased a flush on OXH Patti 2175, a 4/12/92 daughter of BB Patriot 0293 out of OXH Lucy 4008 for $16,000.
Although there were only two bull offerings at the sale this year they still attracted a lot of attention from the crowd, and it was evident with the bidding commenced that they were highly sought after.
Lot 1, DCC 4002 Taurus 7261 ET, a 9/2/07 son of BR Moler ET sold one quarter interest to Whaley Polled Herefords of Dalton, Georgia for $25,000.
Utley Cattle Company, Fairfield, Texas purchased one quarter interest in lot 2, JB DCC Custom 538S, a 5/10/06 son of JB 342 Custom 458P for $14,000.
The excitement from the bull offerings definitely carried over to the female offering. Lot 106, DBLL DCC 4002 Abby 7278, a 9/6/07 daughter by BR Moler ET sold one half interest for $35,000 to H&M Junior Division, Wharton, Texas.
Utley Ranch fired up again on the past Denver Division Champion and the dam of lot 106, lot 4, DBLL DCC 60D Abby 3239 ET, an 11/1/03 daughter of RU Duster 60D sold one half interest for $20,000.
A full sister to the high selling female, lot 104, DBLL DCC 4002 Abby 7254, a 9/1/07 daughter of BR Moler ET sold for one half interest to Jeff Jenkins, Freeport, Texas for $14,500.
Perks Ranch, Rockford, Illinois; River Ridge Ranch, Durand, Illinois; and T-Bone Ranch teamed up to purchase lot 10, H Ariel Rose 2002 ET, a 1/5/02 daughter of O’Reilly 23C Arrow 823H for $13,400.
Highlighting the embryo lots was lot 28. Three frozen embryos by the 2008 Denver National Champion Horned Hereford Bull, KT John Wayne 7167, and out of HCC 75A Bonita C156 sold for $1,200 per egg to T-Bone Ranch.

A strong Fleckvieh offering combined with an enthusiastic crowd of cattlemen and women resulted in good buyer acceptance at the Third Spring In The East Fleckvieh and Fullblood Simmental Sale at Calhoun, Georgia May 3, 2008.
Concerns of an election year and spiraling feed, fuel and fertilizer costs paled by comparison to the buyer’s confidence in Fleckvieh’s ability to play an increasingly important role in future beef production.
The Lot 25, SS Tammie, a Full South African Fleckvieh donor prospect consigned by Snell Simmental of Snellville, GA, made a lot of friends as she went on a final bid of $4,500 going to Phillips Farms, Adairsville, GA.
Another popular female, B5 Shalonda, Lot 7, a Hafkenberg daughter bred to Hannable, was consigned by Blair Farms of Maryville, TN. When Col. Dan Skeels dropped the gavel for the final bid, she went to Indian Creek Cattle Co., Huntsville, AL for $4,400.
SS Sonja, Lot 22, a Bolagi daughter bred to the polled Exodus bull and also consigned by Snell Simmental, found a new home at Moore Farms, Huntsville, AL following their bid of $4,000.
Greer’s Polled Power Fleckvieh of Greenbriar, TN selected to impressive Blair Farms consignment, B5 Starling for a herd addition at $3,000.
Open heifers were also well received with Phillips Farms T2 Roman daughter, Torrey T043, going to TNT Simmentals of Cleveland, GA for $2,500.
Blair Farms sold a Bar 5 SA Stimulation daughter to Indian Valley Ranch, Dover, AR for $2,400 and Indian Creek Cattle Co., Huntsville, AL ICC Regal, an own daughter of the immortal DDD Broadway went to Phillips Farms, also for $2,400.
The value of superior Fleckvieh genetics was again realized when four embryo lots representing some of the elite sires and dams in the breed, sold for $14,340 to average $3,585.
One special semen lot consisting of Fleckvieh sires in high demand grossed $7,120.
Volume buyers for the day included Buzzard Hollow Ranch, Granbury, TX $7,400; G&M Farms, Calhoun, GA $7,330; Phillips Farms, Adairsville, GA $6,900; and TNT Simmentals, Cleveland, GA $6,540.
Roy Schwake of Schwake Cattle Service, who managed the sale, commented that “The quality of the Spring In The East offering continues to increase with each sale and the demand has grown as well.” The sale is sponsored by the Fullblood Simmental Fleckvieh Federation, Fred Schuetze President.

Mark and Brenda Johnson along with Ken Jackson hosted their third annual production sale on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Despite the windy conditions, a large crowd gathered on the warm, sunny day.
Topping the bull offering was a
3/9/07 son of Papa Equator 2928, lot 13, J&J Equator 763. Pembrook Cattle Co., Fairview, Oklahoma; Limestone LLC, Perkins, Oklahoma; and Conley Farms, Clarksdale, Missouri teamed up to purchased J&J Equator 763 for $9,000.
A royally bred female, lot 4, G A R 1407 New Design 553, an 8/15/03 daughter of Bon View New Design 1407 out of G A R Precision 819 was the high selling female going for $17,500 to Finley Bros., Wyandotte, Oklahoma.
Silver Shade Farms of Warner, Oklahoma took home an impressive young pair. Lot 5, J&J Blackbird 5326, a 2/23/05 female by EXAR Lutton 1831 with a 2/18/08 heifer calf on her side by Basin Franchise P142 sold for $10,800.
Lot 6A, J&J Queen 7117, a 3/16/07 female by C A Future Direction 5321 sold to Express Ranches, Yukon, Oklahoma, and A Cross Ranch, Elk City, Oklahoma for $7,000.
Two pregnancies shared the limelight this year for the high selling position, lot 1B and lot 2A. Lot 1B, is a confirmed heifer pregnancy that is sired by N Bar Emulation EXT out of 2 Bar New Design 1407 3352. This pregnancy is due 1/18/09 and sold to Darrell Chapman, Elmore City, Oklahoma for $12,500.
Lot 2A, a confirmed heifer pregnancy by G A R Predestined out of Three Trees Blackcap 3279 that is due 1/18/09 also sold to Darrell Chapman, Elmore City, Oklahoma for $12,500.

The sale featured the Angus and Composite genetics of Griswold Cattle and Collins Cattle.
The Angus offering was strong in maternal traits and featured low birth genetics.
The top selling bull was GCC Total Recall 806T sired by OCC Missing Link 830M and out of an Emblazon daughter. Half interest in this new sire was purchased by Ratcliff Ranches in Vinita, Oklahoma and JE Ranches in Blanchard, Oklahoma.

There was a strong demand for the composite, low percentage bulls.
The sale also featured a strong set of MaineAngus and SimAngus Commercial Composite bred heifers that averaged $1829.

Once again, the Maddox Twin Lakes crew hosted another successful and enjoyable event. There was no shortage of quality in the cattle, and it was evident once the sale commenced.
Topping this year’s sale was an added lot, lot X, Roseneath Beauty 166, a 1/16/02 female by D H D Traveler 6807. She sold one-half interest to Limestone LLC, Perkins, Oklahoma for $50,000.
ZWT Ranch of Summersville, West Virginia purchased the high selling open heifer. Lot 19, Twin Lakes Lady 7086, an 8/24/07 daughter by G A R Predestined reached the bid of $30,000.
Twin Lakes Lady 7076, lot 20, an 8/25/07 female that is a paternal sister to lot 19, out of Twin Lakes/RL E161 Lady 3261 sold for $24,000 to Bricton Farms, Social Circle, Georgia.
Lone Wolf Land Co., Louisiana purchased lot 2, Twin Lakes Blackcap7026, a 3/17/07 daughter of E&B 1680 Precision 1023 for $24,000.
Twin Lakes Primrose 7210, lot 1, a 1/29/07 female by G A R Predestined sold to Sonrise Ranch, Oologah, Oklahoma for $20,000.
